OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Little Chestnut Family Day Care, we view each child as having immense potential to become as smart, skilled, and confident as possible because the early childhood years are the most significant and remarkable time for development in life. Therefore, these years provide the foundation for cognitive, behavioral, and many other aspects of our lives.
We believe that children learn through play; therefore, we will provide age-appropriate opportunities for children to explore, discover, create, and imagine. At the same time, we recognize that all children grow, interact, and learn differently, and it is our responsibility to cater to their specific learning and development needs. We will achieve this by providing our educators with professional development training to present a curriculum that best suits the interests of each child. We believe in respecting and responding to each child as a capable and competent individual. The relationships we build with children are very important to us, and we express this by learning as much as we can about each child.
We believe that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and our service values their input with the highest level of respect. Children learn best when parents are involved in their educational programs, as this not only promotes a strong partnership between parents, educators, and our service but also encourages a healthy parent-child relationship.
Above all, we prioritize the safety and well-being of children at all times through several approaches: strong leadership, a high level of skills and knowledge among our educators, providing a culturally and physically safe environment, emphasizing equity and children’s rights, and continuously updating our policies and procedures.
As a reflection of all the above, our mission, in line with the National Quality Framework and the Child Safe Standards, is to provide the best possible approaches and environment for young children, encouraging and supporting them to make the most of their early years. In this way, we can contribute to giving upcoming generations a strong start in life.
